Why is ClubWise on my bank statement?

If you have spotted a payment to ClubWise and you are not sure what it is, here is the short answer:
it is almost certainly your gym, health club or fitness studio membership. ClubWise collects membership fees by Direct Debit on behalf of the club you belong to, which is why our name shows on your statement instead of theirs.
ClubWise is not a gym, we collect payments for one
ClubWise is a UK company that provides software and payment collection to gyms, health clubs and fitness studios. When you joined your club and set up a Direct Debit, that instruction was set up with ClubWise as the collecting organisation. So each month we collect your membership fee, process it, and pass it to your club. We only ever collect a payment your club has asked us to.
Why our name, not your gym’s
In the Direct Debit system, the organisation that collects the payment is the name your bank shows. Because your club uses ClubWise to collect its fees, ClubWise is the name on the transaction, rather than your gym’s trading name. Many gyms collect this way because it is more reliable than collecting themselves. It does not mean anything has gone wrong.
Your payment is protected
ClubWise is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and collects Direct Debits as a BACS-approved bureau. That means we are held to a high standard of conduct, with no hidden fees and no difficult contracts. Every payment is also covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee, which entitles you to a full and immediate refund from your bank if a payment is ever taken in error.
If you do not recognise the payment
First, check whether you have a current or recent membership with a gym, health club or studio. That is what the payment will be for. If you have a question about the amount or want to cancel, contact your club directly, since they manage your membership. If your club cannot help or you still have concerns, contact ClubWise member support at clubsupport@clubwise.com or 01844 348 300. You can also claim a refund through your bank under the Direct Debit Guarantee for any payment taken in error
